Japan’s Noriaki Kasai flew to victory in the second event in the Four Hills ski jumping tournament on Monday to seize the overall lead.
Kasai, who came second to Germany’s Martin Schmitt in the opening round in Oberstdorf on Friday, totalled 257.6 points with jumps at 120 and 122 metres.
Russian Dmitri Vassiliev scored 255.1 points to take second place. Poland’s Adam Malysz, who set a hill record with a second jump at 129.5 metres, finished third with 254.2 points.
Kasai leads overall halfway through the showcase competition with 521.1 points. Malysz is second on 511.9 with Schmitt, who ended up eighth on Monday, third on 502.6.
The tournament now moves to Austria for the last two events in Innsbruck on Thursday and Bischofshofen on Saturday.
