Ronaldo to play in charity match

Brazilian star Ronaldo is poised to make a gentle comeback from injury on Wednesday in a charity match to raise money for the United Nations children’s fund (UNICEF).

The Inter Milan ace, who has not played competitive football since rupturing a tendon in his right knee during a comeback for the club in April last year, has agreed to take part in the game officials said. He will line-up alongside other stars from the world of sport including racing driver Michael Schumacher – in Brazil ahead of Sunday’s Grand Prix – and F1 colleagues Jarno Trulli and Giancarlo Fisichella. Several other footballers from past and present, including Bebeto, Renato Gaucho, Zico, Junior, Jairzinho and Branco will take part in the match.
