Sales in May of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC) declined by 21.8 percent to NT$8,551 million from the same period of last year, the lowest monthly sales figure since the second quarter of last year.
It also showed a decline of 7.4 percent in comparison with the figure from the previous month.
Sales of the first five months from January to May totaled NT$57,303 million, which showed a growth of NT$57,303 million, or 19.2 percent, over the same period of last year.
According to the company’s spokesperson K.C. Chen, based on the company’s book-to-bill ratios for April and May, the second quarter appears, at this time, to be the bottom of the current downturn. The company expects the outlook to improve in the third quarter.
