Quanta Computer Inc. will launch a talent hunting campaign on Saturday at Taipei Hilton Hotel on Saturday to recruit 1,000 employees while other IT companies are laying off people.

The employee recruiting drive is due to its extremely good business this year. Quanta’s targeted sales of its notebook PCs this year is expected to reach 4,188,000 sets, a gain of about 60 percent from last year’s 2.6 million sets. The chairman of Quanta disclosed that sales of its notebook PCs in the first half of this year would exceed two million sets. Starting from the third quarter, the company’s average monthly delivery will be around 450,000.

The revenue of Quanta in June will be NT$11 billion and that in the first half of this year is NT$55.4 billion. The business outlook of Quanta in the first and fourth quarters will be better than its January-June performance.

According to industry sources Quanta has secured next year’s notebook PC orders from Dell. The estimated monthly delivery of its notebook PCs to Dell next year will be around 250,000 to 300,000 sets.

In addition to its notebook PC, Quanta will deliver three million sets of mobile phones with GPRS, smart phone and tri-frequency functions. It will also sell 200,000 to 300,000 computer servers this year.

Quanta will set up two R&D centers to develop telecommunications and information technology products. The newly recruited engineers are expected to develop pervasive computing technology. As well as R&D engineers, Quanta will also recruit employees for its manufacturing, administration, and finance divisions. In addition to Quanta, other high tech companies are also looking for R&D engineers. Hon Hai Precision Industry, Acer, ASUSTek Computer Inc. are all recruiting hardware, software, mechanical, testing, and quality assurance engineers. The vacancies of these companies is less than that of Quanta.
