Premier Chang hospitalized after minor eye surgery

Doctors at National Taiwan University Hospital (NTUH) yesterday said Premier Chang Chun-hsiung is recovering nicely from eye surgery aimed at fixing a slightly detached retina on his right eye. NTUH physicians decided to perform the operation on Chang when they spotted the problem during his annual physical exam on Thursday. Other than the minor eye ailment, the premier’s medical team said results of his health screenings indicate that he is in good health. To ensure Chang’s speedy recovery from the eye surgery, doctors have ordered him to stay in hospital for five days to rest. Meanwhile, in response to a flood of calls from people concerned about his condition, the premier expressed his appreciation and said he is well on the way to recovery thanks to the thorough care of his medical team.
