Products with novel functionality are being displayed in the Security Products Pavilion during this year’s COMPUTEX TAIPEI.
Flash TEC Information is promoting its Pegasus 6000 Series network storage products. Key features of the network attached storage system are plug-and-play installation, cross-platform file sharing, hardware RAID 5, 1, 0, hot swappable disk drives, automatic rebuilding of data, automatic e-mail alert, and elimination of the need for per-client licenses.
Flash TEC project manager Eric Hong said the capacity of the storage system can achieve 720 GB in a RAID 0 configuration. The company also offers storage system in 200 GB, 300 GB, 400 GB, and 600 GB in RAID 5 across 6 units of disk drives.
With its plug-and-play installation feature, a network administrator can configure the system as soon as it is powered on and an RJ-45 Ethernet cable is attached to the system. The company’s aim is to eliminate network downtime.
The system allows browser-based users to share and manage their cross-platform files under heterogeneous Windows and Macintosh environments. More details can be acquired through the company’s Web site: www.flasha.com.tw. Precache Inc. is introducing its real-time data routing engines, called Z-box, in cooperation with Annextek Global Inc.
In order to save cost and network resources, the Z-box can “push” data to the end users through the Internet network, according to Chung-Yih Wang, senior research engineer of the U.S.-based company. The product will help content providers to send information to its paid-customers or members through the Internet in a cost-effective way, Wang explained. The Z-box, which is a data router, can “push” news related to traffic, the stock market, weather, travel, fraud detection, security telematics, factory automation, supply chain management, network management, software updates, anti-virus updates, and workflow updates to customers as well as delivering music and movies.
The data routing engine can cut network data transmission costs from 80% to 89% if the Z-box is used for data updates or alerts. The Z-box can be used as a stock quote server, which can send information to users through the Internet. The users can select to receive the data using mobile phones, PDAs, and other intelligent hand-held devices.
The Z-box online data replicator also offers two forms of data protection, according to Annextek. The system can be used as a normal offline backup from server to storage device. Its Java-based software allows administrators to perform capacity management, set access rights and retrieve data on demand. The system can also be used for remote replication. Interested parties can get more details from the company’s Web site: www.anextek.com or www.precache.com. Z-box can also be used as a security system for remote residence or factory/office monitoring.
I-View Communication Inc. offers remote wire and wireless security systems consisting of video cameras, broadband video/audio systems, digital video recorders, and video capture systems. Security personnel can monitor the entire premises using I-View systems.
