Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corp. Limited (HSBC) and the Hong Kong Trourism Board launched a new promotion for HSBC cardholders. The promotion “HSBC Mega Hong Kong Sale” starts from June 15 to August 31, 2002.
“HSBC Mega Hong Kong Sale is the largest shopping promotion ever for the bank. More than 30 major shopping malls and department stores and over 260 international and local brands are participating in the campaign. These represent more than 2,000 outlets throughout the territory,” said Kuan Tseng, senior Vice President of HSBC in Taiwan.
“Customers who use their HSBC card at any retailer in the Harbour City shopping complex in Tsimshatsue will also receive a special gift,” he added.
The shopping festival is focused on helping boost the decline of tourist businesses in Hong Kong following the Sept. 11 tradegy in the U.S.
“The economy worldwide dropped tremendously after the tragic Sept. 11 attack; the economy recovered two months later but the tourism industry is still under it’s influence. In order to boost Hong Kong’s tourist market, HSBC decided to join hands with the Hong Kong Tourism Board to help the Hong Kong tourist industry recover,” said Tseng.
Their goal is to bring at least three point twenty-five million visitors to Hong Kong, including HSBC cardholders from Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, U.S.A., Philippines, Turkey and many other countries.
HSBC was established in 1865 in Hong Kong and Shanghai and now has 7,000 offices in 81 countries. They entered the Taiwan market in 1984 and now have 8 branches throughout the island. HSBC has more than 950,000 credit card customers in the country.
