TAIPEI — The Taiwan Stock Exchange Corp. will organize investment seminars in New York City and London later this week to woo both American and European investors, financial officials said yesterday. Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) Hu Sheng-cheng will lead a delegation to attend both seminars slated to take place Sept. 6-7 in New York, and Sept 9-10 in London. The seminars are aimed to bring more investment into the Taiwan financial markets, the officials said.
According to the officials, other delegation members include FSC Counselor Gary Tseng, FSC’s Securities and Futures Bureau Director General Wu Tang-chieh and Deputy Director-General Lee Chi-hsien.
The delegation will introduce Taiwan’s investment environment and financial market development to American and European investors and mutual fund managers.A keynote speech on Taiwan’s economic development and its financial market will be given by Hu at both seminars.
Hu will also visit financial organization officials during his stays in America and Britain to gain a better understanding of their financial markets and seek possibilities for future cooperation, the officials said.
Representatives of Taiwan’s 14 listed and over-the-counter enterprises in high-tech, financial services, telecommunications, and traditional industry, will participate in the seminars, as well as those of securities organizations such as Taiwan Futures Exchange, Gre Tai Securities Market, and Taiwan Depository and Clearing Corp.
