TAIPEI — The 2007 Taiwan International Animation Festival is being held at Shin Kong Cineplex in Taipei’s Ximending shopping district for 10 days until Oct. 7.
The annual event, now in its fifth year, is organized by the Chinese Taipei Film Archive. Altogether, more than 300 animated films from Taiwan and abroad will be shown in three theaters.
Related activities, including an Animated Art Exhibition, lectures and workshops, will be held throughout the festival at Taipei’s Huashan Cultural Park.
The 312 animated films to be screened during the festival include 54 award-winning works from the United States, Canada, France and Italy, and 12 American animation classics from the 1930s.
Spain and Chile, which are featured as “nations of the year,” will have 16 and 17 films, respectively, shown during the festival.
Also screened will be 78 films for children, 37 for adults only, 43 stop motion animated films and 10 original works from local studios.
International animation heavyweights, including Tim Campbell, Jeff Chamberlain, Stephen Anderson, Stephen Chiodo and Paul Vester, will chair discussions with fans following the screening of their works.
