TAIPEI, Taiwan — Taiwan shares rose Wednesday to a 10-week high, buoyed by strength in the construction and financial sectors.
The Weighted Price Index of the Taiwan Stock Exchange rose 76.82 points, or 0.8 percent, to 9,700.07.
Traders said a higher Taiwan dollar and net buying by foreign investors appeared to fuel the gains.
Among the leaders in Wednesday’s trading was Cathay Real Estate Development, which rose the 7-percent limit to NT$12.55, and BES Engineering, up 3.7 percent to NT$10.
On the banking side, Fubon Financial rose 6.7 percent to NT$31.20, and Yuanta Financial gained 4.9 percent to NT$23.40.
