Belgian and Dutch bid planned for 2018 Cup

BRUSSELS — Belgian and Dutch football federation officials said on Friday they would be meeting FIFA president Sepp Blatter about a possible joint bid for the 2018 World Cup finals.

A delegation led by Belgian Alain Courtois will meet Sepp Blatter on Nov. 14, probably at the headquarters of football’s governing body in Zurich. Courtois, who was director of the Euro 2000 finals hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands, was the initiator of this proposed new bid.
