TAIPEI, Taiwan — Police have cracked down on a prostitution ring in Miaoli County, arresting the alleged leader and 10 foreign women, officials said. Following an investigation of more than two months, National highway police nabbed the chief suspect, surnamed Liu, and the 10 women at a house in a remote area in the mountains of Tsaochiao, the officials said.

Police uncovered account books, lists of clients, and more than NT$260,000 in cash, they said. The prostitution ring started introducing women to Taiwan from Indonesia and Thailand six years ago under the guise of domestic helpers, the officials said.
