Yacht Design Competition now accepting entries

KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan — The 2008 Kaohsiung Yacht Design Competition will accept entries until June 10, and the award winning yachts will be displayed at the 2008 Kaohsiung Maritime Expo and Yacht Show, the Marine Bureau of the Kaohsiung City Government announced yesterday.

Officials at the Marine Bureau, the organizer of both events, said the bureau has invited the United Ship Design and Development Center to form a panel of judges, and that only yachts completed after July 1 last year can be entered in the competition.

In addition to getting a certificate of honor, a trophy and a cash award, the winners in the competition can have their company names publicized in international yachting magazines.

The award-winning yachts will be put on display at the 2008 Kaohsiung Maritime Expo and Yacht Show, scheduled to take place July 19-22 at the Guang Rong Wharf — the former No. 13 Wharf for naval ships.
