Poll: Over 70% of high-tech workers value social welfare


TAIPEI, Taiwan — Contrary to the public perception that high-tech personnel are apathetic toward the world around them, more than 73 percent of them said they care about social welfare, according to the results of an online survey released yesterday.

The survey on high-tech personnel and social welfare was conducted by the nonprofit World Peace Association and online company Youthwantrecently.A total of 1,076 effective samples were collected.

Among them, 25 percent were in the high-tech sector, while others came from different walks of life.

When asked about participating in social welfare activities, 73.8 percent of the high-tech respondents said they cared about contributing to society, and 57.7 percent said they were willing to partake in charitable services if time permitted.
