Record 69% of Taiwanese expect home prices to fall

TAIPEI, Taiwan — A record percentage of Taiwanese residents expect house prices to fall. Of those surveyed, 69 percent believe home prices in Taiwan will fall in the fourth quarter, the most since the survey began in 2006, compared with 37 percent who expected prices to fall in the third quarter, Evertrust Rehouse Co. said at a press conference in Taipei Thursday. “The market isn’t good,” Yeh Lin-chi, the company’s president, said.

Of the interviewees, 14 percent said they expected prices to rise in the fourth quarter, compared with 38 percent in the third quarter.
