Moderate earthquake hits eastern Taitung County


TAIPEI, Taiwan — A magnitude 4 earthquake jolted eastern Taiwan’s Taitung County yesterday, but there were no reports of damage, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said.

The tremor occurred at 6:32 a.m., with its epicenter located 5.2 kilometers northeast of the bureau’s Lidao seismic observation station in Taitung County. It struck at a depth of 8.6 km, CWB officials said.
