TAIPEI — Shares of personal computer vendor Acer Inc. fell yesterday, dragged down by the company’s disappointing sales in October, dealers said. By closing, Acer fell 1 percent to NT$89.4, while the benchmark weighted index fell 13.68 to 8,436.95.
Acer on Wednesday announced non-consolidated revenues of NT$37.41 billion last month, down 35.9 percent from September and also down 26.54 percent from a year earlier.
The PC vendor said, however, that non-consolidated sales failed to give a complete picture of its operations, suggesting that investors should use consolidated revenues as the major reference.
But Acer did not disclose consolidated sales for October, and it did not comment on the sharp decline in non-consolidated sales — those for Acer Inc. only and not including sales of other subsidiaries, such as Gateway Inc.
