Thailand’s exports up 15.7%, trade surplus hits US$2.5 billion in Oct.


Thailand’s exports hit US$17.3 billion last month, a 15.7-percent year-on-year increase, and contributed to a US$2.5 billion trade surplus for the kingdom, the commerce minister said Friday. Porntiva Nakasai said imports in October amounted to US$14.8 billion, up 13.5 percent from the same month a year ago.

For the first 10 months of 2010, Thailand’s exports earned the country US$160.3 billion, up 29.2 percent year-on-year, while imports were worth US$148.8 billion, up 39.8 percent, leaving a trade surplus of US$11.5 billion, she said.
