Taiwan Friendship Park opens in Nicaragua capital

MANAGUA, Nicaragua–A newly renovated park in Nicaragua was opened formally in the country’s capital Sunday, in what was described as a symbol of the close relationship between the two allies.

The park, located in Batahola Sur in Managua and renamed as “Taiwan Friendship Park,” could serve as a leisure spot for local residents, help build community spirit and improve the quality of life in the area, said Taiwan Ambassador to Nicaragua Wu Chin-mu at the opening ceremony.

In 1997, the “Ji Xian Park” in New Taipei City was re-named “Nicaragua Park” in honor of the friendship between Taiwan and the Central American country.
