Toyota issues recall over faulty window switches

TAIPEI–Hotai Motor Co., the Taiwan distributor of Japanese car maker Toyota Motor Corp., said Tuesday that it is recalling four models to address the risk of malfunctioning switches controlling the cars’ windows.

The dealer plans to recall an estimated 174,334 vehicles.

The recall involves the 2006-2010 Camry and Yaris models and the 2007-2010 Corolla Altis, as well as the 2009-2010 Wish, according to a statement issued by Hotai.

There have been no reports of incidents resulting from faulty switches in Taiwan, but due to concern over potential breakage after frequent use, the company has offered to replace the components free of charge, according to Hotai.
