TAIPEI–Users of the millions of pre-paid “Easy Cards” in Taipei will be able to download an app on their smart phones later this month to learn about discounts offered by stores in association with EasyCard Corp., which issues the cards.
The app will be available free of charge on the Android Market website, EasyCard Corp. said in a recent statement.
The app will provide details of the discounts and indicate the location of the 12,000 restaurants, cafes and other stores under 42 brands that have forged partnerships with the Taipei based company.
At present, EasyCard has issued 24 million cards that can be used on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, the public bus system and in some taxis. They can also be used to buy goods at convenience stores or pay parking fees in municipal parking lots.
In future, the app will also provide information about bus and train timetables and fares, as well as available parking spaces in the city, the company said.
