The China Post–Cycling enthusiasts from home and abroad will be joining the 2011 Tour of East Taiwan (環花東國際自行車大賽), one of the leading cycling races in Taiwan, scheduled to be held on April 16-17 at eastern counties of Hualien and Taitung, the event organizers announced yesterday. The annual cycling race, now runs to its 11th year, will cover three categories of competition — a 300-km road race, a 380-km challenge event, and a parent-child touring event, announced the Eastern Rift Valley National Scenic Area Administration under the Tourism Bureau, one of the co-hosts of the event, yesterday. Those experienced and professional cyclists are encouraged to join the two-day-long 300-km race and the even more challenging 380-km ultra-race, the administration said.
So far, cycling teams from Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, America, Netherlands, Canada, England and local riders, have all signed up for the professional level race. Ordinary cyclists are welcome to take part in the parent-child cycling tour to enjoy the beautiful mountain and coastal views of the Hualien-Taitung area along the way.
