Israeli airstrikes in Gaza injure 1 Palestinian: report

GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories — Israeli aircraft carried out four raids in the Gaza Strip overnight, wounding a Palestinian, medics and witnesses said Thursday. Two raids targeted smuggling tunnels in the Rafah area in the south of the territory at the border with Egypt. The two others hit a training center of the armed wing of Gaza’s Hamas rulers, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, and an undeveloped area, the sources said. An Israeli military spokeswoman confirmed the air raids, saying they targeted “three smuggling tunnels in the Rafah sector and a tunnel used for terrorist operations” farther north.

She said the raids were a risposte to a Palestinian group’s anti-tank missile fired on Israeli territory Wednesday afternoon.
