SEOUL–World No. 1 Yani Tseng of Taiwan lost her first round lead at the LPGA Hana Bank Championship in South Korea Saturday after shooting a 2-under 70 in the second round of the tournament.
Tseng was tied for second with Na Yeon Choi of South Korea — the winner of the event the past two years — with a two-round total of 135.
They were one shot behind 20-year-old Korean Soo-Jin Yang, who fired a 7-under 65 Saturday to tie the course record set by Tseng on Friday at the Sky 72 Golf Club’s Ocean Course in Incheon.
Entering the second round with a one-stroke lead, Tseng had a poor start with two bogeys on the first three holes, but recovered with four consecutive birdies.
Though Tseng bogeyed No. 8, she still had the lead after finishing the front nine, but could not keep up with the inspired Yang’s three birdies on the back nine, carding birdies on Nos. 11 and 15 before bogeying the par-4 16th.
