Taiwanese businessman abducted in Philippines

MANILA — A Taiwanese businessman has been abducted in suburban Manila by gunmen who have demanded a ransom of 20 million Philippine pesos (US$460,829), the Philippines police said.

The 29-year-old man surnamed Chang runs a textile company in Valenzuela, north of the city of Manila. On Wednesday, four gunmen broke into the office and three of them tied up all the employees, while the other forced Chang into a car.

Before the four gangsters left, they cut the power of the monitoring devices and took all the valuables in the office, including a computer and a safe deposit box. The employees of the office later found a way to untie themselves and reported the kidnapping to the police.
