TAIPEI–Thailand’s representative office in Taipei expressed gratitude yesterday to the people of Taiwan for their willingness to make donations to help the flood-ravaged country.
In a statement, the Thailand Trade and Economic Office (TTEO) said it has received many inquiries from local people on how they can donate money for post-disaster relief assistance.
The TTEO said that in response, it has opened a bank account into which people can deposit their donations. Further information is available on the official TTEO website, it added.
The statement noted that according to recent estimates, some US$33 billion will be needed to restore the affected areas of the Southeast Asian country.
The flooding in the world’s top exporter of rice has claimed more than 300 lives since July and has destroyed large swathes of farmland.
