Village chief may have killed secretary: police

The China Post news staff–A village head in southern Taiwan’s Chiayi County allegedly killed a female former secretary of his at the latter’s bedroom before committing suicide, the police authorities said yesterday. The 54-year-old village chief surnamed Ho in the Jhongpu Township (中埔鄉) and the woman surnamed Lo, 50, a secretary in his village office, was both found dead at Lo’s bed at the wee hours yesterday, according to police. Forensic personnel found a major injury on Lo’s head while no major exterior injuries were spotted on Ho’s part. But there was a strong pesticide smile at the crime scene, the police said. No weapon was found at the scene but there was a huge bloodstain at one of the walls in the room, according to investigators. Investigators suspected that the village head could have killed Lo by slamming her head to the wall before killing himself by drinking pesticide. According to Ho’s wife, his husband and Lo were only acquaintances and that the two had no extramarital affair.
