Tseng a ‘sports genius’: S. Korea’s Na Yeon Choi

SEOUL–South Korea’s Na Yeon Choi, who beat top-ranked Yani Tseng in the LPGA Malaysia tournament Oct. 16, has described her good friend from Taiwan as a natural athlete who masters every ball sport she plays, including squash, basketball and billiards.

Tseng is “simply an omnipotent sports genius,” Choi was quoted as saying by the Chosun Ilbo in a feature the newspaper published Tuesday.

The 24-year-old golfer, ranked fourth in the world, gave her impressions of Tseng while meeting with mentally-challenged South Korean children at the SKY 72 golf course on Yeongjong Island in Incheon Monday.

Choi said she met Tseng when she was a junior high school student and recalled that Tseng “had a gap in her front teeth and wore her hair in a way that made her look like English football star David Beckham.”
