Low-carbon environment forums to tour the nation

TAIPEI — The German Institute in Taipei (GIT) and a local environmental nongovernmental organization will jointly host forums on environmental issues throughout Taiwan starting from Nov. 21, in an effort to promote a sustainable low-carbon environment, organizers said yesterday.

The four consecutive forums will make their first stop in the eastern county of Yilan, followed by Taichung in central Taiwan and northern of New Taipei City, before concluding in the southern city of Tainan, said Eugene Chien, president of the Taipei-based Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy.

“Sustainability is currently the world’s trend,” Chien told a press conference, adding that it is a global issue that Taiwan should pay more attention to.
