BRAZIL–Taiwan 18-year-old inline skater Lee Chun took home a bronze medal in the junior division at the 56th Roller Figure Skating World Championship held in Brasilia, Brazil last Saturday.
The tournament, which runs from Nov. 15-23, is being held in Brazil this year, and has attracted competitors from more than 26 countries. Although the junior division contests have ended, events in the senior division are still ongoing.
Lee, a third year student at Tainan Chang Jung Senior High School, won third place in the men’s Junior World Roller In Line Figure Skating category.
He began training at the age of five and was coached by Tu Hsu-sheng until the eighth grade, after which he was coached by Chu Ling-chi.
Chu described Lee as a gifted and hardworking athlete with a lot of potential.
The roller skating coach noted that Lee will be taking the university entrance examination next year, and asked the government and the Sports Affairs Council to help him get into the university of his choice.
