Book on Taiwan’s Africa efforts to be released soon

TAIPEI–The work of Taiwanese diplomats in Africa will be detailed in a book titled “A Lamp in Africa,” which is scheduled to be released Monday.

The book will describe efforts such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ (MOFA) assistance to Burkina Faso since 2009 to install solar-powered LED lighting.

Previously, children in Burkina Faso used to study under streetlights at night.

Since the MOFA launched the solar-powered lighting project in the African country, children can now read at home at night after charging their solar-powered lamps for twenty minutes during the day.
