Taiwan Research Institute lowers its economic growth forecast for 2011

TAIPEI — The Taiwan Research Institute (TRI) has lowered its forecast for Taiwan’s economic growth rate in 2011 as a result of the global economic slowdown. At a press conference held yesterday, the think tank projected a gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate of 4.41 percent for the year, down from its previous forecast of 4.95 percent in mid-June.

It also forecast that 2012 will see a GDP growth rate of 4.02 percent.
