The China Post news staff–Two youth trekkers — Ceon Sau-Fa (秦秀花) from Hong Kong and IIya Makoveychuk from Russia — are coming to Taiwan in March. Ceon and IIya are among the 20 youth trekkers invited by the National Youth Commission (NYC) to come to Taiwan for an activity named “The 4th Youth Trekkers Wanted Campaign.” Every trekker has submitted his or her travel plan and the NYC selected 20 out of 653 youth trekkers worldwide. The 20 selected will come to Taiwan from March to August. Ceon is the first youth trekker to come to Taiwan for this activity. She is in Taiwan from March 4 to March 18. Ceon chose Taiwan as the first place to travel alone. Fascinated by Taiwan literature and art, Ceon is going to see if the scenery in Tamsui is like the country of old pictured in famous painter Chen Cheng-po’s (陳澄波) paintings and to see if the sunset in Sizihwan in Kaohsiung is as magnificent as described by poet Yu Guang-zhong (余光中).

Meanwhile, IIya is convinced that the easiest way to know a country is through its traditional cuisine.
