PAWTUCKET, Rhode Island — A think tank that promotes business ethics and corporate social responsibility has named Rhode Island-based Hasbro Inc. one of the world’s most ethical companies.

The New York-based Ethisphere Institute says the Pawtucket toy maker is one of 145 companies on the list this year. This is the first time Hasbro is on the list.

Ethisphere has done the rankings for six years.

Ethisphere says the companies on the list follow ethical business practices and go beyond legal compliance minimums. Companies can either nominate themselves or be nominated by others.

Hasbro calls it an honor to be selected and says that integrity is a central part of its business.

Other companies on the list include Starbucks, Whole Foods, eBay, Aflac, PepsiCo and UPS.
