TAIPEI–Top-ranked golfer Yani Tseng of Taiwan carded 4-under 68 at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in California on Friday, two strokes behind South Korean Amy Yang.
Tseng had the longest drive among all the players in the first round at Mission Hills Country Club, hitting 280 yards on average, but it was difficult for her to get her drives down the fairway.
She fired six birdies but bogeyed at the par-3 eighth and par-4 15th.
“I was really disappointed today,” the 23-year-old Taiwanese was quoted by AP as saying. “I don’t hit many good shots, and I don’t leave myself lots of birdie chances out there.”
Tseng is eyeing her fourth LPGA title of the season. She has clinched three victories in the five events she has participated in this year, including two straight wins at the Founders Cup and KIA Classic.
