Italian official industrial orders plunge by 13.2 percent in February from 2011

ROME — Italian industrial orders plunged by 13.2 percent in February from the same month in 2011, and by 2.5 percent from January, data from the national statistics office showed on Thursday. The year-on-year decline was the sharpest since October 2009, the Istat office said, a period when Italy and many other countries were gripped by an economic and financial crisis. Slumping internal demand was a key factor for the latest drop, Istat noted.
