The China Post news staff– The Taichung City Government is considering establishing official non-smoking areas around the entrances of senior high schools and no-smoking signs and other facilities by the end of the year, according to the city government.

Deputy Taichung Mayor Tsai Bing-kuen yesterday convened a meeting with representatives of general senior high schools and senior high vocational schools to discuss their problems, difficulties or suggestions.

At the meeting, the Mindao High School proposed the establishment of a non-smoking area near the entrance of the school, lest students suffer the health-damaging effects of second-hand smoke when passing through the school entrance.
