The China Post news staff–People seeking better health and stronger immune systems should eat vegetables and fruits to strengthen their bowels and reduce antibiotic substances that tend to inhibit enterobacteria, according to researchers. Researchers, including Juang Jyh-lyh of the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), drew the conclusion after finding foods with high fibers, drinking adequate water, and getting more exercise will help avoid constipation and beef up health in the gut system. In a research report published in the U.S. medical journal “Cell Host & Microbe,” Juang and other researchers in Taiwan said they have discovered that “local infections can trigger immune responses in distant organs,” showing that organs communicate to fight infection.
Other researchers participating in the research project include Wu Shih-cheng, Liao Chih-wei, Pan Rong-long working at various research institutions at the NHRI, the National Defense Medical Center, National Tsing Hua University, and China Medical University.
