HTC shipments to US delayed due to International Trade Commission ban

TAIPEI — Taiwan’s HTC Corp. said yesterday that shipments of two flagship smartphones to the United States have been delayed because of an import ban on its products filed by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).

“The U.S. availability of the HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed due to a standard U.S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC exclusion order,” the company said in a statement.

“We believe we are in compliance with the ruling, and HTC is working closely with Customs to secure approval,” it added.

In an ITC ruling in December last year, HTC was found to be in violation of an Apple Inc. patent involving data-detection technology, and the company had until April 19 to come up with an alternative or face a ban on sale of the handsets with the function in the United States.
