Acer falls to No. 3 PC vendor in Australia in first 3 months of ’12

TAIPEI — Taiwan’s Acer Inc. slipped to third place in the Australian personal computer market in the first three months of 2012 as the segment suffered its worst quarterly decrease in two years, market advisory firm International Data Corp. (IDC) said in a report recently.

IDC said that PC shipments in Australia dropped 12 percent sequentially to 1.35 million units during the first quarter because global economic uncertainties, a carbon tax initiation and high interest rates continued to weigh down consumer and business sentiment.
