TAIPEI–Part of a 38-member Chinese tour group flew back to China Friday after surviving a bus crash on a freeway in Northern Taiwan last week that killed the driver and left all 39 passengers injured.
Before boarding at the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, some of the 25 lucky survivors making the flight that day expressed thanks to the Taiwanese people who had cared for them since their coach crashed on the No. 3 Freeway July 7.
Some said they would still like to visit Taiwan in the future, despite the accident.
The accident occurred as the tour group from Harbin in northeastern China and its Taiwanese guide were on their way to Sun Moon Lake, a scenic spot in Central Taiwan. The coach suffered a blowout and overturned, killing the Taiwanese driver and leaving all the passengers injured, some seriously.
