Taiwanese investment in Fujian up near 30%: report


TAIPEI — Taiwanese companies made new investments worth a total of US$1.69 billion in the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian between January and November last year, up 28.8 percent from the year-earlier level, according to a Chinese media report.

During the January-September period, the Fujian provincial government approved 336 investment projects worth a combined US$1.33 billion by Taiwanese companies, an increase of 20.7 percent from the previous year, the Xinhua News Agency said, citing statistics compiled by the province’s Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.

So far, accumulated Taiwanese investment in Fujian has exceeded US$20 billion and there are 763 Taiwanese companies with capitalization of over US$10 million in the province, the report said.
