TAIPEI–A group of cyclists from Norway said in Taipei yesterday they are gearing up for the upcoming Tour de Taiwan, which will be their first competitive race in Asia.
The Norwegians said they have been training for the past two weeks in southern Taiwan and are happy with the route.
“It’s flat and the road is good quality,” said 21-year-old Sigurd Nesset, a member of the team. Nesset said at a news conference that he has been doing practice rides on part of the route for the race, which is scheduled for March 18-24.
Some 23 teams from 30 countries are expected to compete in the event, which will comprise seven legs along western Taiwan, said the Chinese Taipei Cycling Association, one of the organizers.
