TAIPEI — Taipei and the Japanese city of Hamamatsu launched a tourism cooperation partnership deal yesterday, signifying their closer tourism exchanges since their previous shared experiences during the Taipei Flora Expo in 2010.
The agreement was signed by Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin and Suzuki Yasutomo, mayor of Hamamatsu City in Shizuoka Prefecture.
“Taiwan and Japan maintain good relations and hopefully, they will get even better with the signing of this agreement,” Hau said.
Hamamatsu City is scheduled to have a presence at the 2013 Taipei Hot Spring Festival in October, while Taipei will be represented at the Hamamatsu World Youth Choral Festival next August.
Hau noted that Taipei and Hamamatsu have already built friendship through shared experiences of flower expos. Hamamatsu and Taipei hosted the International Flora Expo in 2004 and 2010, respectively.
