BOSTON — David Krejci scored 1:28 into overtime to lift the surging Boston Bruins to a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
Reilly Smith and Zdeno Chara also had goals for Eastern Conference-leading Boston, which beat the Hurricanes for the second time this week and improved to 7-1-2 in its last 10 games.
Bruins backup Chad Johnson, playing just his fourth game of the season, made 22 saves in place of resting Tuukka Rask.
Patrick Dwyer scored a short-handed goal, and Andrej Sekera had one on the power play for the Hurricanes, who lost their fourth straight. Cam Ward stopped 35 shots.
Ducks 4, Coyotes 2 Dustin Penner scored two goals as Anaheim handed Phoenix its first regulation home loss of the season.
Sami Vatanen had a power-play goal, and Corey Perry also scored for the Ducks, who are the only NHL team not to lose at home in regulation this season.
The Coyotes dropped to 9-1-2 at home.
After shutting out Tampa Bay on Friday, Jonas Hiller earned his second straight victory and improved to 9-3-2 this season. In the two wins, Hiller stopped 73 of 75 shots.
Shane Doan scored on a tip-in with 4:20 remaining. He also assisted on Mike Ribeiro’s goal and has at least one point in eight straight games.
Rangers 2, Predators 0 Cam Talbot made 17 saves to record his second consecutive shutout as the New York Rangers beat Nashville.
Ryan McDonagh and Derek Stepan scored for the Rangers, who have won the first two games of a five-game road trip. Mats Zuccarello assisted on both goals for New York, which has won six consecutive road games.
Talbot got the start over No. 1 goalie Henrik Lundqvist for the second straight Saturday night and didn’t let any pucks get past him. He has a shutout streak of 146 minutes, 28 seconds.
Nashville’s season-best, three-game winning streak was snapped.
