TAIPEI–Three ambassadors to Italy from Taiwan’s Central American allies are set to visit Taiwan Sunday to offer advice on participation in United Nations (U.N.) agencies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Saturday.
Nunzio Alfred D’Angieri of Belize, Vinicio Alfonso Tobal Urena of the Dominican Republic and Aida Luz Santos de Escobar of El Salvador will visit for a week, according to MOFA.
Their visit is significant because the three are their country’s representatives to Rome-based U.N. agencies, including the Food and Agriculture Organization, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Food Program. They are set to offer advice on Taiwan’s efforts for “meaningful participation” in such agencies, MOFA said.
The ambassadors will meet with President Ma Ying-jeou and officials from the foreign ministry, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Environmental Protection Administration and the Council of Agriculture, MOFA said.
