Police to question 41 more over Cabinet HQ storming

TAIPEI — Police will summon 41 more people for questioning Monday over the March 23 storming and occupation of the Executive Yuan complex that riot police managed to disperse within hours.

Police said 97 people are suspected of damaging public property after protesters jumped the barbed-wire barricades of the Cabinet headquarters. So far, 56 people have been questioned in connection with the illegal activities.

The removal of the protesters in the early hours of March 24 left 174 people injured, according to official figures, of which 119 were police officers.

Police said one officer has been accused of excessive violence when removing protesters and they will look into the matter.
