TAIPEI, Taiwan — In an effort to promote watersports and the coinciding Blackfin Tuna Festival, the Dapeng Bay Tourist Center (大鵬灣國家風景區管理處) announced that a series of competitions and activities will commence in the three weekend holidays beginning on April 26. Competitions and activities include windsurfing, canoeing and complimentary guided tours of the nearby lake at Dongguan (東港).
The tourist center stated that the wide water lanes Dapeng Bay features enjoy an abundance of wind without the dangers of large waves, and are especially well suited for a variety of surface water sports that may be enjoyed by both children and adults.
Upcoming festivities include a canoe relay race for students and organizations on April 26, which has garnered more than 400 contestants, with 50 slots reserved for visitors who wish to take up the challenge on the day of the event. In addition, organizers will provide complimentary tours of the lake for 600 visitors.
In addition, throughout the three weekends of festivities, the premises around the Dapeng Bay Scenic Area and the marina will showcase stellar acts by numerous street performers, along with an exhibition of sail crafts and a cola drinking contest.
According to the tourist center, 2,000 packaged ticket bundles will be made available to visitors at discounted prices. Promotional deals include a NT$299 self-guided tour of the wetlands on a rental bicycle, bundled with coupons for discounted coffee and cakes at local eateries, the opportunity to quench the need for speed at the nearby GoKart track for NT$599, and numerous deals at local restaurants and hotels.
