TAIPEI — British singer Sarah Brightman is set to dazzle her fans in Taiwan with her ethereal soprano voice when she performs in Taipei in December.
The 54-year-old singer, songwriter and actress will take the stage Dec. 14 at the Taipei Arena, accompanied by the Taipei Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
Brightman has requested that the stage be kept simple and that limited special effects be used so that the audience can enjoy a pure and natural performance, Kuang Hong Arts, the Taiwanese organizer of the event, said Tuesday.
Brightman is known for her piping soprano, highly theatrical productions, and her blend of classical and pop music.
Early in her career, she starred in several Broadway musicals and is best-known for her role as Christine Daae in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera.
She then went on to establish herself as a classical crossover artist and has since sold tens of millions of albums around the world.
Among her hit songs are Time to Say Goodbye, Amigos Para Siempre and Nella Fantasia.
The Taipei concert will be the last leg of her Asia tour, which has taken her to cities in Japan from November and will see her perform in more Japanese cities before her arrival in Taiwan.
Ticket prices for the Taipei concert range from NT$800 (US$25) to NT$6,600.
