Kinmen County unveils unique take on Angus steaks

TAIPEI–A program launched by the Kinmen Livestock Research Institute in 2011 is starting to pay dividends, yielding steaks and other beef products that offer unique hints of flavor from outlying Kinmen County.

The latest validation came on Dec. 16, when Angus steaks from cattle raised in Kinmen largely on distillers grains were highly acclaimed by local residents at a tasting event hosted by the Kinmen Livestock Research Institute.

The new Angus steaks are the result of an initiative dating back to 2011, when 248 Angus stud bulls were imported from Australia to establish a breeding program.
